I am taking a financial accounting class for MBA. I’m looking for a worksheet. Where do i find?
by admin on Mar.05, 2009, under Other - Business & Finance
This is a very difficult class for me because I’ve never taken an accounting and finance class before. I understand accountants use something called a worksheet which helps sort the trial balance, adjustments, income statement, balance sheet, etc. Does anybody know where I can find an excel sheet pre-programmed with all the formulas or purchase something on-line that will help me with this. Thanks so much for your help.

ACCOUNTING QUESTION - NEED HELP PLEASE?
by admin on Nov.28, 2008, under Other - Business & Finance
Alright dudes, so i am starting my accounting program at my local col ledge in sept. It was all good and i was looking forward to doing the co-op program until i found out that it runs right through my summer vacation, which I had planned to go to Thailand for! I was REALLY set on it.
So basically my question is, to those who are familiar with the field, or better yet who have experience… how important are my 2 co-op terms of 3 months each… Will it give me a big advantage once i get my degree after four years? (the co-op program runs 1st and second year)
WHAT SHOULD I DO! ACCOUNTANTS if you were starting over and were left in the same conflict of doing work experience towards your degree, or going on the trip of your life for 3 months… i know education first…but i need some real advice on say i don;’t do the co-op…am i gonna be hugely regretting it later?

Where can I found a program which can calculate stock price?
by admin on Sep.17, 2008, under Other - Business & Finance
I need a stock price calculator which calculates stock price based on company performances (eg. it gives stock price when you input company’s assets, cash, revenues, total number of shares, etc.) It would also be good if it could count dividend yield (again based on needed values which can be imputed).
By the way - I am not looking for portfolio calculators which calculate returns and portfolio values, I just need to examine company shares price based on the accounting details I have about it.

Intermediate accounting tests?
by admin on Jun.05, 2008, under Other - Business & Finance
Hello everyone. I will be attending CSUN for the Fall ‘09 semester as an accountancy major. I’ve just recently finished all of my prerequisites for admission to the accountancy program. I’ve been curious about this for sometime now but I don’t currently know any accounting majors personally. To get to the point, I took Financial Accounting I during the fall ‘06 semester (did well and received an A), however, I’m afraid that I’ve forgotten most of it since its been a pretty LONG two years for me. I took managerial/cost accounting this semester as well and also received an A. Basically my question is for anyone who is in or has completed an accounting program at a university. What are the Intermediate Financial Accounting courses like and what are the tests like? Are the tests in these intermediate accounting courses open book/note? I’m taking a few real estate and investing courses next semester since I applied too late for the Spring ‘09 semester. I will definitely have time to review my Financial Accounting I text pretty thoroughly. Would anyone out there who’s been in my position recommend this? Also, if you can, please tell me what your intermediate accounting tests have been like with regard to format and content. Thank you very much.

What does it take to get a Wall Street job without an Ivy League degree?
by admin on Mar.23, 2008, under Other - Business & Finance
I go to Bentley College, a small business school near Boston that has strong finance/accounting programs. I am looking to break into investment banking when I graduate. However, I feel at a huge disadvantage because I do not go to a prestigious university.
Each year, big i-banks such as Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch, and JP Morgan hire college graduates with only a bachelors degree from the likes of Harvard, Princeton, Yale, and even some non-Ivies like Carnegie Mellon. I am not one of those people. However, I do boast a very good GPA and plan on getting a finance internship this coming summer.
With that said, how are my chances of landing a position at one of the big investment banks in NYC? And if they are indeed low, what can I do to obtain that type of position without an MBA? Remember, I am looking to break in with just a B.S. in finance, but without the brand name.
